You guys.   It's so good.
I can't wait for it to set and continue work.

Nice grain!  Like the color too.

I'm new to DIY stuff.  What dye did you use and how long do you have to wait for it to set in?

And what kinda finish are you thinking?

I like the hybrid Strats, too. This will be a good one to follow. :glasses10:

The stain is just from Lowe's. Minwax, "coral reef" color. Their Wipe On Poly is my next step.

24-48 hours is a good waiting period. They have clear instructions on their products. I ignore the grain filler phase.

All the pots and knobs and parts FINALLY arrived. Work doesn't get done when working piece by piece through the mail. This Dan Armstrong Strat wiring is hard to follow, but luckily working point to point is way easy. Some pretty joints, some ugly joints.

I can't believe I have such good taste!
These are GFS's Slick pickups. I have a set in my orange Tele; them in series is my favorite sound ever. I'm gonna use the Wilkinson cutaway bridge.
The ONLY aesthetic thing from classic Teles I don't agree with is the matching knobs and plate. Gotta have more contrast.

Good job on soldering dedicated ground wires between the pots, but for future reference, it is best to avoid wiring tone capacitors in that fashion. You don't want the capacitor to be wired in between two pots, because it will strain the component, if a pot works loose and starts to move around.

Ash body yes, solid showcase body.

I finally connected pickups to controls. The Tele control rout is very tight so I'll have to undo and snip some wires shorter. Beware ye who would do anything likewise.

Thread resurrection!
This is the third time I've "completed" this guitar. As an S-quire, this was my submission in last month's GOM. (Thanks for the votes!) Different pickguard, different bridge, simple 3way switching. I've found I don't like the in between sounds; anyone else? I also cleaned up the frets from the experience I've learned in the past 3 years and it's much smoother to play. I think it's going to spend much less time in its case!

I definitely like this guitar. The hybrid is a good look and it is a combination of the better aspects of both Tele and Strat. :icon_thumright:

Very nice, great color! (Ummm...I see you haven't cleaned that wall yet...oh well, maybe NEXT build...).  :laughing7:

Yeah, honestly, I'm pretty close to just hard-wiring my teles to neck and bridge is series with no switching options at all.  But yeah, the in-between sounds have come so sound really cliche'd to me - hard not to sound like you're copping the Hendrix thing...the only person who sounds really fresh to me these days using that sound is Wayne Krantz.  Otherwise, you can use that sound for one song in a a set, but after that, it seems overkill (IMO).  Congratulations on honing in your fretwork skills!
