Summer Project:

Ibanez RG body with a Fender Strat neck. The body is from Legacy One Guitars and the neck is from Warmoth.

The body is one-piece Mahogany. It took 5 cans of Duplicolor filler/primer to (more or less) fill the grain. You can still see some grain in the first pic. My former Alder body guitar projects only took 1 to 2 cans to adequately fill. I used Duplicolor Perfect Match Deep Jewel Green Metallic paint. I still need to get the stencil and clear coat the body. The neck is Maple/Rosewood, standard thin, compound radius, SS6115 frets. I'm still in the process of applying pure Tung Oil to the back of the neck.

Thanks...

A pointy body + a non-pointy headstock... could work. I'd have to see it all put together.

Is the fretboard extension recessed into the body? :o That's cool.

i like it! i love RG's, and i know that a soloist with a strat headstock looks badass... i feel like this would be pretty similar. cool project!

i've seen a few people put warmoth necks on the old ibanez roadstar guitars, but i didn't know it would work with an RG. i'm excited to see this thing come together

It works with some, but not all.  The newer ones I believe have little or no fretboard overhang and the 24th fret is the at end or closer to the end of the heel.

The fretboard extension does not fully recess into the body (I don't believe it's supposed to judging from Ibanez guitars I've seen). But, it does extend to the top of the neck pickup route.

I've seen a few people put warmoth necks on the old ibanez roadstar guitars, but i didn't know it would work with an RG.
The Warmoth neck works because this RG body uses a square heel and not the AANJ. I had to order the neck without mounting holes because the length of the neck pocket is 1/8" shorter than the strat-style neck pocket.

Other modifications I've had to make include:
widen the round ends of the pickup routes to fit Seymour Duncans,
customize the Floyd Rose tremolo studs to fit the slightly oversized stud holes,
and I still have to deepen the pickup cavities to clear the string height.

Thanks for your comments!
