So, this is my first hurricane in the US! Been in typhoons in Japan but not on the coast. NYC is battened down tight (well, relatively speaking...). First subway shutdown due to weather in NYC history.
Anyhow, hope everyone is safe! Keep your guitars on the high ground.

Have fun!!  I grew up with hurricanes.  As long as nothing is getting damaged and no one is getting hurt, its always a lot of fun to ride out a hurricane near the water.  You'll see flooding you never imagined was possible.  And its great fun to play in the huge waves they generate, but it can be dangerous, so do be careful.

I drove thru the first part of the storm last night in virginia, got the hell outta there and back to Texas as quick as i could..We seen ambulances and power workers heading that way all thru the night..

Better baton down the hatches Tim...Be safe buddy...

We went thru Maryland into west Virginia and into virginia down 81 south thru Roanoke...

I'm in WV.  I can't believe everyone is worried about a Cat 1 hurricane.   The only things a Cat 1 hurricane might do are knock down a few branches or weakened trees, water my lawn, and wash my windows.

Oh yeah, just in case it crossed your mind, you may wanna avoid standing on the crest of a hill on roller skates.  :icon_biggrin:

Cat 1 is like 80 MPH, that I have sat through many of times, I used to live in Louisiana, but half way up the state, by the time a Hurricane got to us it would be seriously down graded, I can think of few times it was over Cat 1 . That is not bad in comparison, but a storm as large as Irene that can mean 6 to 10 hours of 80 MPH winds and a huge storm surge, That is serious, remember that surge can kill more than the winds.
Plus I see this morning they have said 7 have died, that is 7 that did not evacuate. Yea, cat 1 you worry about.

And I'll guarantee you most of those 7 people who have been killed were doing something stupid and got themselves killed, like the idiot standing under a tree and had a branch fall on his head and kill him...

Based on the amount of coverage in the national news, this has to be the most powerful storm in the history of the earth.  Either that, or NYC just wants more attention.  :binkybaby:

So far this is the most over rated weather event in history.  :icon_scratch:

I'd like to personally take the time to thank Irene for watering my lawn, watering my plants, and washing my windows.  :cool01:
