HSS using Fender Lone Star schematic

I have a JB Trembucker for the bridge and two GFS 60's-70's Grey Bottom Non Stagger single coils for the neck and middle positions. I’m trying to get the most out of each type of pickup with the least compromise, so I am thinking one master volume, one tone for the neck and mid single coils and a tone for the bridge humbucker, which I believe the Lone Star schematic accomplishes (see page 3 of the schematic linked here):

At this time, I want to avoid any additional switches or stacked pots, etc.

A few questions:

(1) Currently, I’m not too concerned with splitting the HB in position 1. If so, can I use a regular Strat five way switch in place of the super switch shown? I assume position 2 would be bridge and mid with both tone controls.

(2) The Lone Star uses all 250K pots and the JB is often used with a 250K tone pot. However, I want to ensure the JB maintains good upper-midrange honk and clarity so, I’m thinking of going with a 500k tone pot and low value capacitor (around .01 uf) for the second tone control.

Would appreciate any confirmation or correction to my thinking. Thanks.

The link is broken.

1. Standard Strat switching is N/N+M/M/M+B/B

2. If you are using a lower capacitance, you want a lower resistance, as well. Pairing 500k with an extremely small capacitance means that you will only hear it when you roll the pot way down. You want a tone control, not an on/off switch.

I always mate 500K pots with JBs, and use a .022µF cap on the tone pot. You'll lose high end with lower pot values, and as Line6man says, you won't get much range out of a .01µF cap for the tone.

In the link provided position 1 is giving the full humbucker with one tone pot, position two is giving the split humbucker with middle using the other tone pot. For the rest it's pretty much standard strat.

I can't see how you would achieve that wiring with just a standard five way. Why not just copy the Lone Star wiring. It seems it would do what you want.

I don't have a Super Switch on hand.  If I'm understanding everything correctly, the super switch just provides the ability to split the humbucker in position two, which is fine but not a priority for me as I don't use that position much.  What I'm wanting to accomplish is use a 250K pot and .047 uF can for the neck and mid pups (Tone 1) and a 500K pot and .022 uF cap for the bridge HB (Tone 2).

The superswitch is also providing the ability to have the differing values for the two tone pots. Again to get this combination without extra switches you would need this type of Superswitch or similar.

You can order them online if you can't find one locally.

OK & Thanks.  Will do.
