I have an old guitar that has real bad buckle rash on the back. I wet sanded, then buffed with rubbing compound. The rash is almost gone but the finish is real thin. I would like to shoot another clear coat on the guitar. How do I prep the old finish to get all the wax/buffing compound/dirt off. I was thinking mineral spirits. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lance

Clean the old finish with benzene or naphtha; it’s the same thing but some manufactures label the can one way while another will label it the other.

You did not mention the type of finish you will be using or what is currently on the guitar so it is difficult to make a recommendation on how to correctly prep and apply more finis to the guitar.

The finish is nitro, and I want to put an additional clear on it. I really just need to know how to get the wax/polish off
