Ha! I have two weeks off, and if I'm not sitting on the beach drinking Mexican beer and eating lobster, I could be singing songd to a senorita and practicing my spanish
there fixed it for you

I got a mail from UPS with a tracking number yesterday. I checked my account on warmoth.com and saw that my neck order was "completed".
i sent them an email, because I thought it was weird, since I placed the order 6 weeks ago.

I got a reply after 5 minutes.

it is funny how you mentioned not at the beach
each year between Xmas and New Years my 4x4 club gets together all the donations we have gathered during the year and head down Baja way for 2 weeks doing charity work in a Village we help support.
We usually have many boxes of clothes for the children, Sanitary supplies for the dispensary and stuff for their church. We will spend about a week at the village helping with infrastructure projects you take for granted in America, Like a water tower so they could have running water. and then we go to the beach and fish, we organized this time about 18 years ago while going down and finding some of the worse living conditions we had ever seen in a small village that we gassed up in. Gassing up out of 55 gallon drums and filtering the gas with our tee shirts. We are recognized now by the Federals as we go in and last year we had a run in with the Narcos, who basically let us go in and do what we wanted. We have many a strong friendship with these guys and have helped develop the local economy bringing down machinery that would have been junked here in America.
And after a week in the village we shoot to a cove that you need a Jeep to get to on the Sea of Cortez, go fishing and just lay around on the beach playing music on our instruments and having a great time.
That is my Xmas each year, I could not think of a better one. When we get back it is back to the grind in the Rat Race we call LA.

I look forward to those weeks all year long.

That does sound like a worthwhile way to have some fun and do some good at the same time.

People raise hell about the Mexicans coming over the border, and I know it's wrong and rough on us, but unless you've been there, you can't really imagine how miserable some people have it. If I was there, I'd risk life and limb to get here. Even in some of their bigger cities like Monterrey, Guadalajara, or Mexico City, where you'd think there'd be resources for people to make do with, some of the stuff you see is enough to make you sick.

Good on you sir, very admirable indeed. We often forget how lucky we are (dumb luck) to have been born on one side of a border as opposed to another. In my country we have brain dead idiots, including the govt, moaning that people want to come here instead living in hellholes. Well, as Cagey pointed out, wouldn't you? Of course you bloody would.

Well put, Cagey.  In response to those who find it somehow morally reprehensible that Mexicans and others sneak across our border, I can only say it's almost immoral for them not to try and make a better life for themselves and their children here, given what their chances are at home.

And awesome work, Jusatele - good for you and your club, and in particular good for your adopted village.

Peace

I dare a thread hijack if commenting too much, but the frustration of the latest wave of immigration is as much an assimilation, economic drain, and diluted workforce issue to many.

For the wait time, 2 to 3 months is the usual isn't it?  Shipping down under adds some time, as does the complexity of the order.  It's still faster and cheaper than the custom shops of the major brands.

Try eight months, or eleven from start to finish. However long you think its taking, there are always
peeps out there waiting longer!

:icon_tongue:

Shut it!

I was not trying to hijack the thread guys, just it is on my mind as we are about to set off, I brought my little 4x4 trailer down and loaded it last weekend, etc.

But

I waited 2 months for my body
My neck was a show case but needed frets, arrived in 8 calender days, they seem to have put a bit of a fire under the butts of guys who work there as it seems stuff is flying out the doors.

Just like the man ORC says, it could be so much worse, and you don't want to know how long it has been for me. :binkybaby:  Hang in there.

Cletus - from my experience - I'd just drop a polite email to Warmoth and ask how it is going....I have done this and received a reply within a reasonable time frame given the time differences.

BTW For the record, my last body order took nearly 10 weeks to reach shipping stage but I was told that at the start of the order. It was because of the complexity of the binding and finishing work on the body. &.it was indeed worth the wait. :icon_thumright:

Just call 'em.  They'll tell you what stage your parts are at.  I like to call every three weeks or so.  I think the Warmoth sales guys have my account number memorized at this point.

Living in Australia, the time difference can make it difficult to just ring them up, let alone how much the call costs. It's probably just as good to send an email.

Just an FYI here.  Warmoth does not have an automated status system.  Any time a customer requests a status update, the sales rep has to dig through the order paperwork and potentially interrupt the shop staff to find out exactly where an item is.

I'm betting some of you could care less, but realize the time to track down each order adds up as do the interruptions to shop staff.  This ultimately impacts production and the ability to respond to all customers.  Necks need time to sit after being cut.  Finish needs time to cure.  There are some corners that will not be cut.  It takes time.

Best estimate lead times are given at the start of the project and Warmoth tries to stay on top of any delays and communicate those to the customer.  (Yes, Firebird, I know there are occasional fubars.)  Calling every other week does not make your order go faster.

As a customer myself, I can say it can be quite frustrating walking past your order on a shelf day after day, week after week and not seeing any progress.  Then again, I know some things cannot be rushed.  So....  Have patience....  It's something I have to remind myself to do.

I ordered my jackson magogany neck, took about six weeks.

My CBS jazzmaster neck flamed maple/flamed maple took about three. Both were full custom orders.

Having read your thread I should delete this one FB!

Edit: I received the magic email this morning.

And +1 to Eric- I dont want to waste time hassling warmoth, when I can just ask here :) Unofficially of course!

+1 Eric said it best, I only checked in every two months or so, and I know there is a lot going on at Warmoth.  They shouldn't have to check in on the progress more often than once a month.  Yes Cletus, when I saw the title to your thread I thought, O crap, almost the same title as mine. :laughing7:, but don't worry man, she's a coming.
