How does this look?

I like Padouk but it's color seems somewhat limiting to me unless you are mating it with a padouk or painted body.  I'd be interested in mating one with dark wood

What is your opinion about this mockup looks?  It's walnut and a random padouk neck from the showcase...

I don't care for it, either. You're right; padauk really needs to be mated to padauk, or maybe black or white. Purple heartwood is the same way. It's just too unusual.

IMO padauk looks better with lighter colors like white or some creme shades, bloodwood is better with darker bodies (or purpleheart)

I would have to agree with the other opinions proferred above, BUT what is that body wood? If you were to do some trans-reddish finish on the body it might turn out pretty sharp.

No pics available atm, but I have a padouk neck on a BK Tobacco Burst body. I think it looks fantastic.

Yes, I realized that from the beginning, which is why I was trying to discourage it. It's not as if I was putting down someone's real guitar.
