(Walnut (Ebony (Maple (Rosewood) Maple) Ebony) Walnut)

I'm not sure about the finish. Probably just clear unless I can come up with something else.

It's cold here so I really can't finish until spring because the garage isn't heated.
My wife won't let me paint in the kitchen where is is warm.

Dont cha just hate that!  .....women just don't understand..... I tried to explain to my woman that the fumes would disipate after about 3 hours, with the door open...but she just dosn't get it!....lol..... :laughing7:

Very interesting. Good call on waiting to finish it. Gives you plenty of time to think it through. This is very unique and the right finish could make it look like a million dollars and the wrong one......well........could make it look like a lot less than a million dollars. I'm going to be very interested to see how this one plays out.

A slight tobacco burst would look awesome on that.  :headbang:

I was just going to try 2K urethane but now you have me thinking.

The Walnut will darken up with whatever goes on it.  I don't know if a Tobacco Burst would show up enough to even make an impression on a mostly Walnut body.

black on the sides with a burst slightly onto the body but clear apart from that? that probably wouldnt work very well though

How do you feel about Tung Oil?

I've used it in the past when first starting out building guitars.

I think a Danish Oil finish would be tops.  It will darken it up, and have a semi-gloss wet look.

I've never used Danish oil. I assume it is similar to tung oil.

There's several way to do it, but one prefered way is to wet sand with the Danish Oil on the first coat so it acts as grain fill.  Here's one our very own Floyd fixated Doug did.  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=8285.90

Sweet, I was watching that body on ebay. The guy had that one and one other that liioke pretty seet too...Cool to see someone on the board got it.... :icon_thumright:

Danish would look the shyt on that body, as Super Turbo said. Wet sand with #320 sand paper and some of the D-oil, for a couple rounds. Then finish with a few more coats let dry for about 3-4 wks, then lightly buff with a super fine sanding pad...No steel wool.... :headbang:
