How do you drill starting holes for strap buttons

I have all the drilling done in this guitar but have yet to install the strap locks I have. It looks like the center line is directly in the middle of two pieces of wood glued together.. should I just move it over a tiny bit or will my guitar not hold up right?

Don't worry about it. If it was painted an opaque color, you wouldn't even know you were drilling on a seam. Besides, that glue joint is stronger than the wood.
