Hipshot Hardtail Bridge Height Issues on Strats?

So...
no problem ?
I hope...  :icon_thumright:

Ultimately, I will sell my Hipshot bridge and i'll buy a strat tremolo vintage :P
(so I'll have less problems for the choose of showcase body :headbang1:)

Bill of Hipshot has responded to my question: "our Fixed bridge will work on the American Standard Strat lay-out from Warmoth. Hope this helps. Thanks!!
But looking installation drawing...

I happen to have the Hipshot bridge off my mahogany Strat right now, so I was able to measure the hole spacing. I definitely have a "vintage" hole pattern from Warmoth, and the bridge bolted right on with little issue about string spacing. It doesn't look like I drilled the string holes out, but that doesn't mean I didn't. I do good work <grin>

In any event, if I was buying a new body I wanted drilled for a hardtail and I wanted to use that bridge, I'd either get Warmoth to do the Vintage hole spacing, or I'd do it myself. The American Standard spacing is clearly too far off for the mounting screws, so you'd have to fill the old holes and drill new ones.

This is exactly what I thought reading the response sent to me by Bill,
Mah....

Y'know, if you go to the Warmoth page where they describe bridge mounting, they'll show you the various options available for hardtail bridge patterns. You can actually get the vintage holes opened up, or even just get string holes drilled with no mounting holes so you can place them yourself. Maybe that's something you could consider. That way, you get the counter-sunk string holes that will accept ferrules, and your mounting holes are either in the right place or you can put them in the right place. They're simpler holes, since you're essentially just putting in pilots. You could actually do them with an old iron hand drill...

I know this is an old topic but I had the same issue with my Hipshot. I didn't get the one that Stewmac has available. Rather the Modern spaced steel bridge. I'm assuming the base plate is .125 also. The saddles sat way high in the air and I also needed to route the neck pocket. No I don't have a 21 fret neck. 22 With overhang... No pick guard however.... I'm building another project and I got the Gotoh hardtail for that. Hopefully I don't run into the same issue with that bridge as that guitar has a top route...

I have exactly the same problem 6 years later, I have a standard Fender hard tail and it at least 1/4 low. This should have been resolved by Warmoth. They need more competition.

You mean you got a Warmoth body drilled for a American Fender flat hardtail bridge (and a Warmoth neck), and that same type of bridge from them as well, and the strings are now too low so they hit the fingerboard?  ???
