I need to file the high E slot on this Squier neck... but it's too thin to get a file or even a piece of sandpaper in there!  What to do?  My girlfriend suggested an exacto-knife.

It's too thin to get a .010 fret file in there? Is there even a 'slot'? Sounds like you need to go to town with a fret file.

Take the lightest gauge wound G you can find and saw away.............carefully!   :glasses9:

I ended up using an exacto knife.  It worked fine.  Turns out women aren't useless after all!  :laughing7:  I think it was cut for 8s or something, really thin...

This is worth it's weight in, umm, aardvarks:

For the high E use a .013 file, the kind that has .013 on both sides.  Dont get fancy with the dual sided stuff etc

.013, .020, .030, .040 and .050  <--- those will get ya by for most everything on a six string geetar  use the .020 for the B and G
