Hidden battery rout

I did this a few months ago to my old Squire so I could power a GFS mid-booster. [It's alright, I guess. I'm probably not playing loud enough, but it's hard to hear much difference in tone.]

I should probably have cut it a little closer to the middle screw, so I could put all 6 trem cover screws in. I just leave that top corner one off and it's fine.

I think I was worried about routing too far under the front control cavity and putting a giant hole through the guitar. As it is, there's a tiny gap just big enough for the battery wires.

thats really cool... i don't think having only 5 screws in the plate would bother me much. i might be a little more upset by that if it were a warmoth, but that is extremely cool!

I recommend getting screw inserts so you don't strip the wood out changin' batteries

That's a clever idea. I'll remember that for when I need a spot to stash a battery.

One of the middle screws turns endlessly once it's down, but the others bite, so I'm not too worried.

Also, considering the whole guitar was under $200... new... 11 years ago, I won't be investing that much into it. [Electrical tape will come before threaded inserts.]

I wish I had a pic, I flipped the strat jack plate upside down to hide the battery there.  Only because I figured someday I wouldn't use a battery and wanted the body all stock original.

TroubledTreble saw it and knew exactly what it was for, he brought over a new prototype pup to show off, they sound good guys, that's all i've got to say about those

Good thinking about the hidden battery box in the trem rout.  :icon_thumright:

i think i heard about that trick on here maybe from you and then i saw it on some website, it is fairly popular and doesnt look to bad either.

I remember seeing the flipped jack plate in this video on how to install Graph Tech's Ghost Pickup System. (from around 7:15 until the end)

At first, I thought it was a mistake... It might be too, because earlier in the video, the battery & clip were stuck to the inside wall of the top rout control area.

Maybe all the guy's leads have 90-degree ends and the upside down jack plate works better. :dontknow:

Block the trem w/ batteries - you can carry 10 years worth of spares!

Or a stash that could get you 10 years!  :icon_jokercolor:  :evil4:
