For anyone following along, I've been working on a Hetfield Inspired Nomad Swamp Ash body/Warmoth Maple neck build. Staining has been an interesting journey. After reading and more reading, I decided upon Wudtone's Black Magic Woman for the body and their Colorless No Ageing for the neck.
My first pass had a really good result. The problem was, it boosted my confidence beyond my actual skill levels. I thought I could pull off a "sandblasted" finish. Well, I couldn't. So, long story short, I sanded it back down to bare wood and purchased another set of the Wudtone Black Magic Woman and started over. The second time around, the results aren't as stellar (I'm 100% certain it is user error, not product), but it's "good enough" for the time being. The pictures posted are the finished body with most the hardware. I'm going to let the local luthier install my bridge.
The neck is in the process of finishing and once it's done, I'll post more pictures.
