My next project(s) are to be bodies from scratch with strat-compatible necks. My own shape. I've got three body blanks (basswood, mahogany and white korina) and two tasty quilt maple tops.  :blob7:
Hoping to make at least one for my bro' for his 40th. Shh, don't tell.
I'm down to my last 25.5" scale-length guitar (my Warmoth Strat) so only have the one to measure off at the mo'. It's had a pro luthier set-up, perfectly intonated and stays in tune really well. I've measured 12th fret to saddle line (should be 25.5/2 i.e. 12.75") but it's more like 12+7/8th to 13+1/16th (ave extra 7/32", if my maths serves), but nut to 12th fret is (obviously) still 12.75".  :icon_scratch:

Please will a few of you measure yours and post the results - 12th fret to nearest and furthest saddle?
Oh, and can you say what bridge you have, too.

Ta muchly.

On my tele, it's all pretty close to 25.5, but my low E and A strings are maybe 3/16th further back. It's a compensated Tele bridge with three brass saddles. If you choose a bridge, see how much movement the saddles have, then drill so that 25.5 is right in the middle, if memory serves me right.

If you put your scale length and number of frets in there, at the bottom of the page it will tell you the where to drill for a bunch of different types of bridges.

Brilliant link! Problem solved.
Thanks! :occasion14:

Well, it's never going to be shorter, always longer... I figure about 1/16'" longer for the high E (even less!), and never more than 1/4" for the lowest string. I've done two seven-strings with a low B - .060" to .066" or so string - and they intonate at just about 25.75". So the low E will be less, and I've never seen a bridge with too little adjustment. I believe the Tune-o-matics are the most probl-o-matic*, but I never fuss with them so I know not.

*(I gots natchrul rhythm, too - wanna see me dance?) :cool01:
