Hi !!

i would like to build a warmoth stratocaster (my first one) with the EMG Gilmour G20 pickups

But, before ordering the body, i would like to be sure to make the right choice

which option the best for the installation of the EMG Gilmour kit :

top rout ?

Top rout seems to be ok for the instalaltion of the kit and pickguard g20... But rear rout give me the possibility to get the pick rout option "EMG strat'

so.. i don't know what i've have to choose between top and rear rout.. ?

also, about the body, does a laminate top necessary for a strat guitare?

thanks for your help, and sorry for my poor english

cheers from france!

It you want to use the pick guard that came with the DG20 kit, you'll need to get the top route. If you don't' want to use the pick guard, get the rear route.

You don't need a laminate top if your are painting the guitar with a solid color. Laminate tops are for transparent and dye finishes where you want to see the wood grain through the finish.

so it's not a problem than the top rout don't have the "emg strat" cavity?

The EMG rout is just for rear routed guitars and takes a little less wood out for a cleaner look. Witha a top rout and a pickguard this doesn't matter and the EMG pickguard will fit fine.

For some reason, the bridge single just looks weird rear routed for me (and I know some fraction of the guitar playing population feels the same.) HH, HSH, SSH, SxH all good. SSS just looks naked without a pickguard. Do what you want - Steve_Karl pulled it off nicely, but I still think I'd top route it for aesthetics.

Man its crazy how dummy-proof they have made those EMGs

Are those connections any worse than standard solder joints or not really?

I have a Zakk Wylde set with the new solderless connections and the work flawlessly for me.
