HI all,
Just curious if any one knows what this wood might be I have had a 6 foot long strip of it lying around for years and have been using small bits for various projects, now I am going to use it for a rout and truss cover on a new gecko so I would just like to know what the species  is bubinga perhaps.

I finished it with tru oil ( as a way to practice befor the body arrives) which made the figure jump out even more than when I have french polished other chunks off the same strip.
Thanks

Lot's of possibilities... Would be easier to tell if I could see the end grain, smell it, and feel the weight...

I don't think anyone could definitively identify it from the picture, but I'd venture a wild guess that it's some kind of heavily figured Mahogany...

It looks very much like my mahogany neck, both in color & figure, depending on the lighting.

(from the first day I got it)

I had a koa Taylor T5-C2 that looked JUST like that.
