Help Identifying Fender (Squier?) Body

Greetings all. I hope it’s ok that I’m posting this question here - planning on a Warmoth neck for it if that helps!

I found the below body for sale for what I think is a really good price. It’s listed as a “Genuine Fender”, however, for the price, I’m thinking it’s a Squier CV. Anyway to tell if it’s legit?

Those photographs do not all appear to be of the same body. One has black marks in the neck pocket and screw holes in the body and another does not.

I would not be convinced of its origins and as I point out above are the photos of the same body?

I agree, there are two different bodies shown in these photos.  Grain pattern in photo no. 3 is not the same as 1 and 2, and the neck pockets differ as Robert notes above.


FWIW, I have never seen Squier bodies offered as brand-new parts, and these have either never been assembled into guitars, or they have been refinished with the pickguard screwholes skillfully filled.  The neck pocket floors look a little sloppy in both cases, as well, but with Fender and its various manufacturing locations and trim lines, that could be a non-issue.


Now, depending on the price, these could be perfectly good parts that just happens to have dodgy provenance (and a seller who's not good at posting photos on his ads), but hey, we're partscaster guys by definition over here, so who cares?


Nevertheless, the inconsistencies suggest a seller who's not overly concerned with accuracy, which may portend deeper issues.

Yes, those pictures look shadier than a forest at sunset. It's definitely and Asian made body, but I'm not sure it was ever sold by Fender.

Yeah, $150 seemed to good to be true for a “Genuine Fender”... I was thinking the same about the craftsmanship, but I’ve yet to personally dissemble and reassemble any guitfiddles personally so figured maybe I just don’t know.
