Heaven Is A Place On Earth...

So I was looking through some old recordings I done, until I found this. There's a section in that song that was ripe for some 80's solo action cheese. So I whipped out the whammy bar and got playing with myself.  :icon_jokercolor:

Smell that? Smells like cheese.

Eddie  - is that you?  :icon_biggrin:

Ha ha good recording there...... :icon_thumright:

Btw I dunno if Heaven is a place on Earth but there is a Hell......(and no it's not in Arizona). I had a workmate go there. He sent a postcard to work from Hell!

http://wikimapia.org/1456524/Hell-Norway

I must go there myself one day, so many people have been telling me to go there for years..... :laughing7:

haha! That is amazing! I think I've found the place I most want to go this October! It means when people ask if I'm up to anything during the October week I can tell them I'm going to hell. Also whenever someone tells me to go to hell I can say I was there X years go. It also mean when someone...

The possibilities are endless. Thanks for that Pete!

Nice playing there! I actually thinks it add to an already good tune.  :icon_thumright:

About that place in Norway  :laughing7: Normally I would have something funny to add to all this. But the current situation is still laying heavily on my mind so I will refrain for now.

Yeah man  :sad1: at a real loss for words about it. You all have my deepest sympathies.

That's why I changed my emphasis from Hell, NORWAY to just Hell. I don't mean any disrespect to the horror that has happened in that country recently. I knew of Hell in Norway way before this past week or so. As I mentioned I had a workmate go there, he was always looking to go to crazy named places.

He went to off beat places like Sheshatshit (Eng. pron.), mainly because it was near Goose Bay and our Station Commander at the time was nicknamed Goose (because he WAS).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheshatshiu

Then he went to Churchill to try and kick a Polar Bear in the icehole (well, he did get out of a 4WD and hurl abuse at one til it turned around much to the horror of the tour guide). Then he went to Iceland where he couldn't believe how crazy Reykjavik was, then over to Norway..... I don't think any of the places Stuey visited has been the same since! When I went to the UK he convinced me to go to Smoo Cave in Northern Scotland..... :laughing8:

Haha Smoo Cave. Never been that far north before, might actually try it out whenever I get money/car/driving license. Quite fancy going on a driving holiday around Europe!

Yep Stuey got around......... He showed me a photo of him in the 80s puckering up to a guard at Checkpoint Charlie. When on duty he'd often drop into a Gay Grenadiers routine and embarrass the hell out of you. Or call you to the Departures wall at the Airport to meet some friends and it turned out to be two gays kissing each other goodbye. :sad1:

I believe when the Service I worked for switched over to the Australian Federal Police ( I had left by then), Stuey ask the Commissioner - no less - what the policy on transgendered Officers was and whether they could have appropriate sick leave for gender reassignment.....he's been on desk duties since!  :help:

Er, btw, he is straight and last I heard had a very lovely Korean girlfriend he met on his travels.

haha, he sounds like quite a character! Seems Australians have an amazing sense of humour. Seen this video a few weeks ago, the ATC's have brilliant patter.

Climax, NC

I used to live close enough that I passed through a couple times a week. A few months ago they closed a bridge, and made it harder to get there - it just took a little longer.  I've never yet had anyone ask me how to get there, and now thanks to GPS being a ubiquitous thing, it probably will never happen. But perhaps the funniest joke about this town, is that just outside of town, as you're leaving town, someone has a sign that simply says Dénouement

Amazingly enough, you can get there without going here first.

For those of us in North America, you can get to Hell by automobile if you drive to Michigan.

Lexicon alpha into Guitar rig 4 through Cubase LE, with a little delay. Can't remember what amp model but it was probably one of the Plexi models with a bunch of pedals and eqs.

Edit: Guitar Rig 3*

That looks like Canberra Airport to me. LATE EDIT: I checked You Tube - it is Canberra..

I have seen one of those huge Russian mofos land  when I was working at Sydney Airport. The ATC comms was hilarious, as the pilot was Russian thru & thru and couldn't understand the directions he was being given. In the end, the ATC told them to park it in the middle of the 2 runways (!) and a Safety Vehicle went out and escorted them along the taxiways to the Freight docking areas... He was nearly going to turn right instead of left and head to the Domestic section which was not built for aircraft of that size.  :help:

BTW I know I was short & sweet with my comments about your recording, but I have to say it was done very well with whatever you used. My "Eddie" comment was about the 80s styling of soloing (EVH) - a backhanded complement. I actually think Belinda herself would have approved of that version if it had been played for her back then.  :eek:ccasion14:

Thanks for the really kind words Pete. It's weird listening to yourself and noticing just how much you have changed over the years.

Yeah those Russian planes are huge, I've still yet to see the Antonov An-255, but I will one day! Would have been a pilot in another life I'm sure since I'm a complete geek about anything aviation.

I thought the solo sounded great. If that's cheese, then get me a platterful <grin>

I also enjoyed the Russian's take-off run and the tower commentary. I'll bet the talk at the pub later was even better <grin>

Thanks Cagey,  :icon_thumright:

There is a real lack of humour in the world, everything is always too serious. At least in my neck of the woods it's the case, never any real characters who go that extra crazy mile in that legendary way.

There's a lot to be pissed off about. But, fun's where you find it <grin>
