As Is Mine.
It is a great conversation starter too..
I have only had mine together a few weeks now, designed a decal for it.
I prefer the air of mystery it provides.... :icon_jokercolor:
Go Naked or go home! :laughing7:

The F logos provide mystery too, for anyone that has a clue what they're looking at.  My drummer of a year and half new the story of my assemblies, and one day finally laughed when he saw the F logo.  More recently, another friend commented about me having a fake logo, to which I replied, "The logo is real.  The bass underneath it is fake."

But, what really gets me is the details like that one pours over that no one will never notice.  Naked, Fender, Warmoth, no one seems to notice.  The reverse headstocks, I get more Bubbas thinking I'm left handed than actually looking at the orientation of the instrument.

You can do it right, or you can just do it.  Both of these are trimmed waterslide decals placed on top of Warmoth's vintage tint satin finish with no protection.  They are fine.

I'm in a similar situation as the original poster. I bought a new birdseye maple Warmoth neck from a friend that is already finished in gloss.

I have a waterslide decal that I'd like to apply. I am really not concerned about the edges. I have no experience finishing or sanding and frankly, I'm not afraid of the work, I'm just really afraid of screwing up the existing finish.

I take it from these pics that you can actually get away without sealing it?

What about shooting it with clear Rustoleum? Can I do that without sanding/buffing, etc.?

I trimmed them nice and neat.  Let me back up, some came trimmed and some were entirely rectangular requiring trimming.  Of course the best and most professional way would be to apply it on top of a finish and finish it again.  It opens up all doors of what finish does the decal stick best to and what finish won't muck up the decal.  Then, you can just stick the thing on with no protection, and if you never use the headstock as a shovel, it will be fine with no protection.  If it gets messed up, buy another.

Thanks, Super Turbo Deluxe Combo. Not messing with it all (and just trimming and applying unprotected) seems to make the most sense for me. The finish on this Birdseye maple neck is really nice. I do not want to screw it up.
