Has Anyone Tried the SD Hot for Tele STL-2 / STR-2?

Has anyone tried them? I can find maybe 2 fuzzy reviews online and nothing on YouTube. Seymour Duncan's Audio Samples aren't very helpful and I'm curious as to how they sound. I bought them for a tele style build I'm doing from Warmoth (First Build) but I'm on the dreaded Warmoth Wait so I can't see how they sound. I just want to make sure I won't be disappointed when the parts finally get here. I play from clean to a mild overdrive to a strong fuzz distortion on my EHX Germanium-4 Big Muff Pi so do you have any idea how it would sound with it? I got it because 1: I like a bit more bite and a bit fatter of a tone and 2: I'm the only guitarist in the group and I'm going to need to be pronounced to make up for it. I'm not saying I'm the only one who should be heard but It seems that our drum set called our drummer a name or insulted his mother or something because I've never heard someone hit a drum so darn loud.

Note: I play no metal. These aren't intended for a more metal sound, are they?

Any input positive or negative is welcome. I thank you.

I have no particular input on the SD Hots, but I have fooled around with the coil-tapped version of the SD Quarter Pound for Tele - and I liked it a lot.  It is indeed a Telecaster pickup, not a metalhead pup in a Tele form factor, it just has a lot more of EVERYTHING when it's on full blast, and it pulls back to conventional telecaster output when tapped.  Give it some thought.

Thank ya kindly!

I looked up a few demos of the QPs. If I'm not mistaken the Quarter Pounders are hotter than the Hot for Teles. If the quarter pounders aren't considered a metal pup than clearly the HfTs aren't either. A load off my mind. Since I didn't get the coil tapped version I have a feeling these should be a good median between classic tele pups and the Quarter Pounders.

I'm going to stick with the Hot for Tele's for two reasons now. 1:Thanks to you I have clarification that they are not pups intended for metal. 2: I figure if it seems that very few people have experienced the Hot for Teles, I suppose I owe it to the community to try them and give my input when someone else like me comes along. Perhaps I'll make a demo video.

But not for a while. I'm stuck on the ol' Warmoth Wait. Ordered 7/28, Still got 4-5 weeks left.

Again, Thank you for your help.

I'd ask at the seymour duncan pickup forum - very active and knowledgeable bunch over there.

Ya know I never thought of that. Honestly.

I feel a bit silly now  :laughing7:

Thank you, I'll try that
