So Winter of 02'-03, after watching a bootleg copy of the Clash's RudeBoy, there is the scene in rehearsal where Mick is playing that Big red Harmony 335 copy....
Well, That was it, I was hooked, and HAD to have a 335 derivative as Gibson, and Epi Elitists were out of budget....
So I was introduced to this lovely lady...(Stock photo)
The Hamer Echotone (MIK) I paid $550 for her WITH a TKL HSC...
Damn fine deal if you ask me...
I played her stock for quite some time until I decided on A pup swap and added a Chet Bigsby, and flame jobbed it with 3M reflective tape...
I got tired of the flames. pulled it down, and when I got my LPJ I moved her to second string...
Fast forward a couple of years....
I was gifted some odd ball over size pups that I tried to Mod the body to accept, but damn near destroyed her in the process...
So, after some blocking up and re routing... we wound up here....
A few squirts of satin black...
Clean up round one....
Wet sanded and taped...
Tractor red, Closest match I could find in a rattle can.
Cleaned and clear coated, It has that Hi build semi gloss rat rod paint job.
And if you look real close you'll see I used the original white knob machines from an LPJ.
And I am simplifying the controls, wiring it Epi Special II style with a single Vol / tone, SO Brass plugs were in order....
That's all for now, as I have used all the available extra parts from my stash, I have to save up some scratch for pups(Cream Dog ear p-90's), and it needs a nut, and I'm replacing the cheap TOM with a roller bridge.
So Stay Tuned! There's more to come!
