As an aside, as a parent of children with special needs and as a person who works in public K-12 education professionally, I respectfully ask that community members rethink the casual use of the R-word. I understand that most times, it's not intentional or meant maliciously. I would prefer to turn this into a teaching moment rather than a fight.

Don't be a snowflake. No one is making fun of retarded people. The word "retarded" is not a cuss word. If the ignition timing in my automobile is retarded, it has nothing to do with making fun of anyone with special needs. If someone's thinking process is foolish or ignorant, it is the opposite of advanced. Enough already.
