Guitar Nut - GraphTech TUSQ XL or Bone?

I haven't, but I think a "zero-fret" option would be great to have on Warmoth necks.
It would completely eliminate the "nut-tone-difference" dispute, since all notes on the neck, including open string notes, would be the same.

I don't know... that extra fret adds a couple/few milligrams of weight up at the headstock. That kind of mass is liable to change the dynamic range and frequency response of the neck dramatically. Plus, what about neck dive?

True. I didn't think of that ...

Huh.  And I was worried about the silver-nickel fret insert clashing with the stainless frets on the rest of the neck.  Anyway, I did order one, just to try it out.  I've never been a big fan of the sound difference between fret and nut.

Hey that zero glide looks pretty cool!  I wonder if it helps open notes sound cleaner for right hand tapping also???

Maybe then I wouldn't have to be a scrunchie bro!

If you like the idea of zero frets (or that nut, doing essentially the same thing), give the LSR roller nut a look. Same sound, better tuning stability, though it is limited in width and radius. You can get brass nuts which also give a similar tone (any metal is a similarly significant change from bone, TUSQ, or any graphite compound) in a wider range of widths and suitable for any radius.

Metal nuts, roller nuts, and zero frets are really nice, and I wish they'd get adopted more widely; they're easy to work with, they even out the tone, and there's nothing smoother for tuning stability than polished metal.

Anyone ever try a Zero Glide nut?
Haven't tried it yet, but I bought one to put on my new Tele build! Always liked the zero fret on the Gretsch I used to play, and I figured, WTF, it's worth a try. I picked up a Tusq flat bottom Fender style nut as well, just in case it doesn't work out.

Have had Tusq and bone. No complaints about either. An audience won't detect any difference. If I was using a trem bridge I'd go with Tusq.
