My guitars heroes are all alive and well, except for Nick Drake who died before he had the chance to become truly great. :sad1:

a 2008 reunion tour? a promise of a album?
hope it is not his 3rd strait oldies greatest hits like his last 2 Cds
Fresh material man, I mean even Flock of Seagulls is touring.

Tons of hero's of mine have passed but I didn't want to be too predictable so I went with this. This, to me, is one of the most gorgeous things I've ever heard. I wish I had the vocal skill and the confidence to get out there and do this, it's very bold and very beautiful and gives me serious Tele GAS. To anyone who hasn't heard this, stick with it to the end, it's worth it. Or even better, get a copy, YouTube seems to kill the sound on this with it's compression etc, the real deal sounds so much better.

"The shows marked the first time Roth had performed with the band in more than 23 years. Van Halen's handlers say it was the top-grossing tour in the band's history."  I do realize handlers can say whatever, but....

Even Sammy plays his hits on tour, when it's his tour.  Have you seen the Stones or Springsteen lately.  If you want to see a guy that been around a while play stuff that isn't a greatest hits rehash, there's Jeff Beck and that's about it.

93 million is not something to sneeze about
it was one of the top grossing tours in years
but it was supporting old material, where is the new stuff, are we forced to have to listen to dance the night away for the rest of our lives?

come on, I do not dislike Eddie, I just think he needs to put out something new, Stop firing band mates because they go play in Cabo, and admit he has a Alcohol problem and that is why Sammy left.

I mean, Firing Micheal? Get a grip that is the most faithful bass player you could ever have, and he was satisfied being there.  Now look at who those 2 he fired hooked up with and put out a hit record.. In the other thread I state Eddie is a huge talent, but he is not producing anything new that I can buy, and except 2 or 3 songs spread out over 2 greatest hits CDs, he has not done anything new in over 10 years. Now why is that?

I see guys playing new stuff all the time, it may not be my Genre, it may not be of the par as some of the stuff we heard in the hair metal heydays, but it is good music and they are doing it all day long. We could compile a list of guys who are no longer recording but touring, does that mean that acts like the Doobie Bros are a hit band because they have toured for the last 20 years since they reformed?
I hate to say this, but if you re 6 years past a greatest hits CD your career is not hopping, When he releases that Cd next year, and has a charting hit, then he will be more a force than a "where is he now" file filler.

In the fickle world of Music, you can be a current star, a dead legend, or someone trying to make a comeback till you fade away. No matter who you are. There are 1000 bands touring and playing to crowds of 300 when in there day they were playing stadiums, Eddie probably will never get down to the 300 number, but without new hit music, his demographic keeps getting older. One day they will be giving his greatest hits CD away on PBS for a pledge of $100. Remember at one time Sinatra and Deano were top billing stars also.

Their market is fans who want the old music, they would be retarded to do anything else at this stage. Going in a whole new direction because of "self exploration" is paramount to self-destruction. If you look at a lot of bands that are still touring and selling out stadiums decades after they were huge, there is a reason why they have survived besides having loyal fans. THE DO ALL THE OLD SHIT. When they bring out new music, it is more or less a clone of the previous album, AC/DC, Status Quo, you name pretty much any band that exist now and are still selling out stadiums, Its precisely because they constantly bash out what people expect of them. If status quo was to suddenly bring out some thrash metal or something because they suddenly had the urge to do it, they would have been out the game ages ago. The fact that they have stuck to what sells keeps them touring.

You keep bringing up chicken foot and how they are doing amazing or whatever, their album only went gold. Personally i don't care how they want to develop as song writers. It is their job to create something i want to listen to and more importantly buy. And frankly i found chicken foots album a poor attempt at the sort of music they were going for. Any super group will get attention because of the members not the music. (anyone remember the band power-station[they are a super group that sold far more records then chickenfoot, and i bet no-body remembers them]) Undoubtedly there will be fans of the members that buy the music as apposed to fans of the band. Chicken foots album only went gold after 6 months. Poor in comparison with van halens greatest hits cd.

Reason I bring up Chicken foot is it has 2 old members of Van Halen who are moving on
If you think, the entire market for Van Halen is oldies but goodies, then you have nailed the coffin shut and soon they will be on PBS
Like I said

current
touring with old material
trying to make a comeback

PS, I have both of Power Station's CDs
