There isn't a single bass to vote for..  :sad1:

i think we only had one entry all year...line6man....there are plenty out there but none never entered.

There's typically more traffic that's guitar related, and there are more guitar players, so it makes sense there are less basses.  For instance, I'm a bass player but own only 2 basses but 5 guitars.

i voted for hannaugh and well hopefully be two from me in 2010 bass wise, one fairly simple, second might have more artistic looks flair to it though.

I voted for Kashmir. For me, that's the guitar that defined this forum this year. And it looks great too!

I guess that means line6man won Bass Of The Year!  Congrats! :hello2:

he certainly gets my vote for wiring guru of the year....

Yeah, the orginality of the finish, the fact it took two forumites to do it, plus it's got the b-bender and the exotic neck. GOTY!

I find the problem with getting bass guitars in here is that most are built on the "conservative side". Nothing stands out as "Oh that looks awesome", nothing really flashy like a lot of the guitars. Am I wrong?  :icon_scratch:

True, but i think this competition shouldnt be judged purely on looks, that way then the one that has the most flamed flame maple and the most expensive paint job will pretty much come out tops every time. i mean, sure the purple z bass with a warmoth wenge bloodwood neck im going to be building might be considered conservative, but im going to enter it first chance i get, sure ill probably not get through to this this time next year, but as itll be a bass that ill be getting alot of use out of, then flashy wasnt practical for it, but it should have equal chances, and its having a powerbucker and a seymour duncan in there, two of the greats yes? :P

We don't get a chance to try them out nor do we have good quality sound clips to listen to. Since there's nothing more than pictures to judge them on, of course it's all about looks. In the end that's what this contest is about.

Actually, most of these guitars are beautiful because of how everything works together. Korina and a Tobaccoburst isn't mega-expensive, but it just works. Half of the guitars aren't finished by Warmoth, and the other half is on here because of how they work together, not just flame or paint job cost.

I have thought about adding sounld clips but that can vary so much.  The recording device and amplification can totally change the sound of a guitar.  I think design and looks are the best we have to go with at this time.

Pehaps clip of the month will take off and we can have a large depot of sound clips too!

fair enough then, well ill see how well my z will do when its done :D any idea what january will entail? as in warmoth finish etc, or wait and see? :P

if im not mistaken it rotates, this month was owner finished so next month is other finished but I could be wrong

The only problem with the sound clips playing a role in the competition is that not all of us are the same level as players, and I'm pretty sure amp and recording equipment would take a huge toll on some people.  Those are things that really have nothing to do with how good the guitar itself is, but would probably affect the voting none the less. Some how I don't think my Roland Micro Cube would stand up to DbU's insane arsenal of amplification.

Some of these axes do get points in my opinion just for certain features.  Like Kashmir has that cool B-Bender in it, DbU has EMGs and a Floyd on his Soloist, mine has the full Jimmy Page wiring job with all 4 push/pulls, etc...

I voted on my favorite guitar, one of my favs of all time on this board:

Marko's. black korina+tobaccoburst+gold hardward+RW neck+ebony board=magic! He's the only one who's got the full picture in my book. Exotic top+neck+back+fingerboard, unusual pickups+wiring, extreme looks. I like this guitar even more this way, as a VIP, than if it were a les paul
