Gotoh GB7 Tuner warning....

Just want to get the word out...
Apparently Gotoh doesn't make their tuners like they used to... I have now burned through
TWO replacement sets due to the bushing (the part that goes through the headstock)
shearing (yes I said SHEARING!!!!!) off with simple "get 'em tight" torque.
I'm quite certain it must be some sort of manufacturing change. My 12 year
old Modulus has the same tuners, and this has NOT happened. And yes I attempted to
apply MORE torque to the Mod's tuners, and this did not happen. It's gonna be Hipshot
Ultralites for me from now on, and I URGE Warmoth to start carrying them.

Where did you get your tuners?  Perhaps there was a bad batch.

I've never heard of anyone else having this problem with the GB7s.

Set one was received with a Gecko... Set two was ordered from Allparts....
May I add... The little plastic washers on the keys tend to go bad too, unless
of course one leaves the keys so loose so the the thing goes out of tune when you look at it wrong....
Yes I have an opinion about this... But I also feel the alternative is superior....

Quite a few bass machineheads use the same 14mm hole as the GB7s, but I wonder if Warmoth should maybe also offer the 12mm Schaller size on build-to-order neck.

Respected board member (THIS board, yep) SkuttleFunk is a Hipshot dealer and can "make you a deal", as they say. Search up, ummm, "SkuttleFunk" or Regenerate Guitar Works.
