today from Chris Alsop Guitars for fret beveling.

The one on the right can be either for 35 or 90 degrees and the one on the left has a depth adjustable file blade.

These will come in handy I think - seems like every guitar I have suffers from fret growth. Ie the fretboard shrinks ever so slightly here in the north during the winter, making the sharp fret ends come out of the side of the fingerboard.

Those look nice!

Word to the wise: mask your fretboard. Heavily. It will happen that as you're pressing down and to the side and moving along the length of the neck, you may at some point lose it and skate across the frets. Even if you only do it once, you'll put some serious gouges in your frets and you'll be forced to use all sorts of language nobody should hear. And one layer of tape is not enough - the file will cut through that like butter.

I don't know how I know that. I think it came to me in a dream. I've certainly never gouged the living &@%!! out of a newly installed set of frets :laughing7:

Those look pretty nice. :glasses10:

I suppose one of these days, I'll need to start getting some neck tools.

If you're in the UK, Rgand, you might want to check them out. I found that they were very reasonably priced compared to others I've seen.

Not to talk you out of it at all, but it's a slippery slope. As I'm sure you're aware, good tools aren't cheap, and neither are specialty tools, good or not. Unless you're planning on doing a lotta neck work, some of that stuff is tough to justify.

No, I'm in the US. Not exactly local for me.  :icon_biggrin:

Wise words, there. In fact, that's partially why I don't have any of them yet. Not sure how far I'll decide to go with neck work.
