Happy birthday.  :headbang1:

Those are very cool. I especially like the strain relief. That's something you don't see often on earbuds.

Thanks guys, it was actually yesterday. But i was working so went out today to do some pickin'...(shopping)

I like that Pete..earstax... :icon_thumright:

I don't think you will be shaking any walls with those but they look safer for ears than the good old 100 watt stack. Man I miss those days but my ears don't.

You are correct, not wall shakers, but they definitely shake the skull. they blow away my wife's Bose ear buds. :guitarplayer2:

I wasn't going to rain on his party but some speculation is that headphones and the may be responsible for more hearing damage. I think its a combination if 1)lack of tactile cues your  actual listening volume and 2) sheer number of hours. Most people even musicians spend far more time listening to music than making it at extreme volyme levels.

Lots of concern being expressed about headphone/ear bud usage and hearing damage. Take care with those Marshalls........  :party07:

I don't use buds or headphones often, I already have tennitis. So it's on rare occassions. And when I do I'm cautious of volume at which I use them.

No Cagey I didn't build another guitar, I thought about it but actually bought a new computer instead. My  urgent one is old and tired...Too many graphics programs and not enough processor power...

You gotta do what you gotta do. For my birthday this year, I bought a deep fryer...

You can fry chicken and what-not in a frying pan, but nothing beats a deep fryer. Plus, I don't need a special occasion to build a guitar  :icon_biggrin:

I use headphones a lot, but NEVER sealed cans or earbuds. I've been in playing situations where closed cans were recommended to keep out the drums, but: you're putting your ear's safety in the hand of a soundman, and they ALWAYS seem to let off some awful POP and crackle. I LIKE my ears, I've grown sort of attached to them over the years. Sennheiser 485's and 515's are comfortable for a whole DAY. I do have some Extreme Isolation EX-29's with 29 db reduction, but I only use them out with my own little mixer to turn them OFF while the sound guy's dicking around. The best soundmen, in my experience, are the ones who do the least.

And the whole point of good phones is that you can hear everything at lower volumes. It certainly is odd when you're waiting at a traffic light, you hear music from another car, look over - and you are hearing the guy's earbuds! Huh? HUH?

No kidding. A good friend of mine has his own business renting/running sound systems for pro bands, and he's of the same opinion. Start everybody off flat, make minor adjustments here and there to compensate for the venue and player idiosyncrasies, and call it good. Start getting creative and you're asking for trouble.
