This build make me wanna go all Congressman Wiener on some fine a$$ guitar bodies out there...tell the wife it's better figured woods than Tiger Woods!

Got to be honest, that is one of the most beautifully ugly things I've ever seen.  I can appreciate every detail about it, but it's not for everyone.  And yes, GOM contender big time!

Kinda like an ugly kid to his mother.  :o
It is the look I was aiming for, I guess I kinda like bizarre!
Want to do some recording and photo's this weekend.
Cheers

I fail to see the ugly, I think it looks great, I May be wrong , but it sure has a country/western look to it

I think it's fair too exotic for that.  It makes me think of Ibexes, Impalas, Hyenas, Cheetahs and the like.  A guitar stand made of Ivory (or James L's ears) wouldn't be out of the question.

Pure awesomeness, I still think that's pretty close to the best looking fretboard I've seen... :icon_thumright:

Okay, I want to compliment you on each of the pieces you selected for that build.  The body is beautiful, the fingerboard is beautiful, and the birdseye maple neck is beautiful.  Nice choice in doing the back of the body in a solid white, as well - that's not how most folks would have done it, and it's pretty cool.

Now, that said. I'm gonna provide a contrary viewpoint:  It's awfully busy.  Too many visual stimuli competing for this viewer's attention.  I think a less heavily figured fingerboard (probably rosewood or ebony) would have brought this together much better.  Obviously it's your guitar, and if you love it, then it's perfect.  And I probably won't see it again after it has its round on GOTM.  So take it for what it's worth.

And of course I know - opinions are like bosses, most of 'em are full of sh!t.

Build another one -- obviously you're not afraid to be different, and that's pretty awesome in its own right.

Peace

Bagman

Took a phew photos tonight. The clouds were out. The back is vintage white, all the metal chrome. It needs string trees - I think two.
Thanks for all of the comments, I am so into this guitar. The red on the TV jones is a reflection of my tshirt!

You betcha! :party07:

Gotta get a killer plate. Trying to come up with some ideas.

Go with something that is quite gonzo & 60s-ish. Like an overly chromed Cadillac theme.... :icon_thumright:

I love that idea Pete!   :binkybaby:

Here's a video, clean settings only. Havin fun tonight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJv4S18-Gfs

First there is a trailer (I said havin fun )

then
you hear the pearly gates double coil,
then at 1:45 Split Pearly Gates then
2:05 Double coils both pups, then
2:25 both single
3:00 TV jones both.
I still have to record both with sustain and also the TV jones clean, single.
Demo starts at 1:20

Here it is with some crunch. I used a computer model Marshall stack. I do a fair use cover of China Grove at the beginning (I only did one take and my timing was a bit off! Haven't even started drinking either). I did both guitar parts with the rhythm being moderate British Crunch and all the lead with an overdriven Marshall stack.

Then abruptly I demo the pickups including the pearly gates both double and split then both the Pearly Gates and the TV jones Powertron double and split then the Powertron double and split.
Enjoy!

It is a very "bright" guitar because of the pickups and Maple neck I think. The body is chambered mahagony with the zw laminate and I chose those to tone it down a bit. The pg pups are very bright indeed and especially when split sounds like a freaking Tele!

The Pearly Gates sound crisp - I'm thinking about getting them too.
Very. I'm really happy with it. It really is a great right in between sound. And if you split the coils it'll be everything you need - or at least it makes me happy!
Cheers

This is just perfect!!! great job!!! sounds great too, I think I need a strat with Powertrons...

Next build (incoming mortar fire from the wife - yea right, next build! Honestly honey, I won't do too many more, I promise), I would do 2 Powertrons. I'm just starting to realize the potential of those pups. Yes it's only a few days but I see the potential.
A good friend of mine whom I am writing songs with is building  this:

In fact he was the inspiration behind the choice.
