I find all this talk about this wood interesting.  Maybe I have had too much caffeine and am too jittery, but, as much information as I can find out about this wood I can't find many references about it's weight.
Would a neck of this wood weight less or more than Mahogany.
What kind of match would Goncalo Alves make to a mahogany chambered Tele?

About 60 pound per cubic foot, Mahogany is about 33...

Your 3rd question makes no sense, sorry... re-write it :)

60 per cubic foot?
not with this back,
was looking for anything similar to mahogany in tone but a little lighter.

Still makes no sense to me... What you mean with "what kind of match would make"?

It sounds alike Mahogany so, it may be alike Mahogany. =CB= says his thinline tele with gonçalo neck and humbucker is a tad too much bassy, is that what you asked?

Probably will be fine with single-coils

yeah, I guess another way to put it is;
what type of combination would the goncalo alves neck make with a mahogany body?
is the goncalo more like mahogany or maple.

but,  I am looking for something lighter than Mahogany that still has that warm sound.

Gonçalo is a little "more" than mahogany, more warm and heavier ^^

Think you should go with Mahogany as other woods are usually heavier...

guess I will just keep it simple.  Mahogany body, mahogany neck, Ebony board.

Gibson's been making Les Pauls and SGs with that combination for a very long time - it can't be too shabby of a combination.
