You don't see many of these floating about as fingerboards, but what a great looking material.  Is the rub that it's "waxy" in feel, or is their another reason?

Dunno. There are currently 17 of them in The Showcase, and I see them show up all the time. What style necks are you looking at? Because all 17 of those are either Tele or Strat necks. You won't see tilt-back versions very often, I assume because the stuff doesn't want to glue up strong enough for a scarf joint, but those show up from time to time as well.

There's this ridiculously cool looking neck in the showcase that is inspiring me, but I think the fretboard may be too dark to see the markers. So, I was looking at making a Birdseye maple neck with a Goncalo fretboard because it's light enough to provide nice contrast to black trap fret markers without resorting to maple.  The descriptive, "Waxy" left me scratching my chin.  Not looking for another sticky fretboard if that's the case.

Then again, there's always Pau Ferro, which is equally beautiful, but in a different way.

GA isn't sticky. I don't know if waxy would be an appropriate description for my GA neck/board. It feels fantastic.

Great combo - love mine and the oils in your hands make it look and feel even better!
