the strings were quite average action wise. Not too far and not too close. And for the finish, an very thin coat of nitro is put on this guitar. The thinner the coat, the better the sound.
Sound Quality:
man, this puppy sang! the sustain was amazing. The man who makes these guitars make sure they are perfectly weighed to the right weight. and if not he does a little hollowing of which you cannot see looking at the guitar. This was the true strat tone that i have always been looking for.
Reliability/Durability:
I haven't had any experience with this guitar, all i did was play it in a music store. But seeing how the finish is a thin nitro, it will probably come off quite easily. But that gives it more mojo!
Mark did an INCREDIBLE job with the black nitro finish. It's thin, and smooth, with just a few dings here and there - feels broken in and previously loved. Just in putting the guitar together, I've already accidentally "relic'ed" it some more, and the way the black chips and reveals the white underneath just looks good. I almost feel like I'm working for Fender's custom shop (except that their finish isn't anywhere near this good). The finish feels so good, I've been taking the guitar with me to bed.
Sound Quality:
There's plenty other factors besides the body that contributes to the sound... that being said, the strat I built with this body sounds good.
Reliability/Durability:
"Is the finish good enough to last, or does it seem thin and easy to wear off with lots of playing?" Well, the whole point of a vintage finish is that it's thin and easy to wear off with lots of playing. So far, so good.
