glued the neck to guitar body

Whoa, DBTRB, that headstock guitar is COOL... I can't seem to find it in a half-assed search - WHO-WHAT_WHEN_WHERE? :icon_thumright: Man, you could just make it a bit smaller and it would act-shooly bang down The List of Necessity in a guitar vis-a-vis comfort and all.

It's the bass player Stig from the Danish band D:A:D - so these terms will help your search: https://www.google.com/search?q=stig+dad+bass&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=oqlaUueiOuem4gTAy4GgAw&ved=0CCgQsAQ&biw=1439&bih=764&dpr=1

talk about brainwashed , if people try to go to Les Paul Forum , it very funny to see the sharp contrast of "two camps" .  Les Paul user seem they know better than  Gibson R&D , they think Gibson not use the right glued on their new guitar , this can be a good MBA case study on customer relationship management comparison :)

I analyse a product by how their manage the companies, not their advertisement , I actually also doing design work for advertisement , I the one try to " brainwashed " customer , I help my father run a RC toy company too , they sell a lot to Radio shack , to use one more screw or not on a toy , the technical reasons behind that is inconceivable to end user .
Well with that info, you've talked me into it. I'm going to go home tonight, remove all my bolt-on necks, and reattach them with glue.

Stubhead I found it by accident some time back at the uglybass gallery here.
Here are some other pictures.

Oh yeah, and MortenB is right, it is Stig Pedersen!

I don't believe there is enough surface contact between the neck and the body to create a sufficient glue bond.  A set neck usually has a long "tail" that extends well into the body and neck pickup cavity.  Each of these neck attachment designs has been in place, relatively unchanged, for decades... Wonder why?

Actually, there is. But, there's not enough mating area on the lap joint that bolt-ons use, and no mechanical interlock. Modern glues would hold, but the wood wouldn't. It would tear along the grain. The glue joint would remain intact, but the neck would be detached.

Right. Depending on the attachment design, It'll be a "mortise and tenon" joint or a "dovetail" joint. Both are mechanically strong joints with large surface areas. Glue those up, and the neck will snap before the joint will let go.

D-A-D used to be called Disneyland After Dark, but Disney threatened to sue them, so they changed the name to D-A-D. Needles to say, that many fans still call them Disneyland After Dark  :icon_biggrin:

Stig, the bass player, is known for his crazy two string basses, and his funky outfits. Here are a few more... I don't know if the necks are bolted or glued to the bodies  :icon_scratch:

:redflag:  No No No  ...  :dontknow:  you got it all wrong.

BTW ... The tip is to have a good camera to take pic's of glueing the Warmoth neck to a Warmoth body.  :icon_biggrin:

I think the fumes from all the glue have finally gotten to this thread!  :rock-on: :laughing7:

believe it or not, some mean-spirited no-goodnik-type of people believe that that the ORIGINAL hendrix died at just the perfect moment to gold-plate his career - he had already written about five new songs about his favorite subject which was a mysterious women drifts in from outer space and saves his ass with a perfect one-night stand = give it a rest jimi, get a DOG or something... i nominate this thread for "the perfect time to die award"

Speaking of Jimi Hendrix and dead things... has any artist ever been as prolific as him after he couldn't draw a breath? Maybe Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra, but I don't pay enough attention to them to know for sure. But, Jimi... I'm not sure he could have put out so many albums if he'd lived.

It's weird, I really thought that a glued lap joint was a bad idea for a guitar neck, but now I've seen that some guy made a camera, I can admit that obviously I was wrong about that guitar thing.

I believe Hendrix had roughly 40 albums... It's incredible, really.

Tupac has been declared dead for years but he seems to have a new album out every year.

I'd have to nominate Dimebag Darrell, at least in the top ten - just for the thirty-or-so guitars he's invented for Dean. Not to mention amp lines, stompers, straps etc. But we live in maximum necrophiliac times. Hendrix also invents pedals, has signature amps, guitars, the only reason is Janie Hendrix who says "Push! Push!" If you wanna get better sales after you're dead, it helps to pair off with a lazy, greedy chick.

In the case of Dimebag, he's got... some old girl he used to boink sometimes who has decided her destiny is to work full-time to ensure the world never loses sight of Dimebag's incredible genius-laden squeaks and howls... oh, and NOT to work at some lesser type of employment. Of course J-Drix sets the bar pretty high, she's not even related to Jimi, in charge of a 150 to 240 million dollar estate. Dog bless Uh-merika....
