It's not a product that's specifically made for tonal reasons, it's a pre-exiting product called "Dymondwood" that has been on the market for years. It's been used for gunstocks, knife handles, pen blanks, duck calls - you could get a matching set! :toothy12: They just feed the boards they buy into the CNC machine, press "SG" and away we go.

DymondWood® is a highly engineered wood/plastic composite, that has the physical and mechanical properties of high density hardwood, acrylic, polycarbonate plastics and brass. Here, brightly dyed northern hardwood veneers are combined with engineering grade resins, heat and pressure to create a product that has the best characteristics of each.

It might sound good, but it seems to be a guitar made largely of infused glue. Buy one and let us know. :hello2:

Utilizing the beautiful "Dymond Wood" laminate and adhering to the same quality and design standards as the Backstabber this innovative predator call is just the ticket for call shy predators. By tapping the rubber bellows on the lil Pekker on you leg, knee, gun stock, etc, you can make perfect woodpecker distress sounds every time.

if any one of you were to be given one of these, you'd all be raving about how great it is.

Yes, I would be raving about how I was able to trade it in for a Taylor.

baby talors suck  :laughing7:

They're travel guitars, they're supposed to suck.

I picked up one of these:
http://www.washburn.com/acoustics/travel-series/

it actually plays nice and is much more balanced than the Taylor backpacker...price was right at $149 with a nice case....

Every time I play a backpacker with a narrow body, I find it difficult because I can't really relax it on my knee, and it just feels ridiculous to have a strap for something that weighs half a pound.  Some of those sound surprisingly nice though.

For the sake of being a jerk: I don't like Taylors. Just 'cause.

(Really.)

I don't like avocados.  True story.

Also late to the party, but if the received wisdom is that the body wood makes naff all difference to the sound of a solid body electric guitar then it's really about aesthetics. Either you like the look/idea or not. It's not for me but its certainly novel - I counted 16 layers in (presumably) 1.75".

SG's arent that thick, usually like 1.5"... :dontknow:

Personally  I think they'd be better looking with just a solid laminate on the top, something like this.... :laughing7:
