Hey everyone,

I was a happy man a few weeks ago as I spent several hours at a local guitar center scrutinizing the tone of every pickup I could get my hands on.

After much deliberation, I purchased two Gibson BurstBucker 3 humbuckers. the ones I got have 4 conductors.

Now that I've been overhthinking it for a few weeks, I'm wondering if I'd be better served by two different types of pickups, a BB 2 and 3 for instance, instead of two 3's.

As far as the rest of the electronics are concerned, the setup will be 2 vol, 2 tone and a rotary switch, and the tone pots have switches for coil splitting.

I've never actually wired a guitar before (though I am quite handy with a soldering iron) and I'm wondering if maybe there might be a better pup combo out there for me.

Thanks for any input!

You are over-thinking it. And, you're suffering from "buyer's remorse". Happens all the time. Just install the things and decide if you're happier or not. If so, life is good. If not, pull the bitches out and sell them.

There's some gear out there where you can ask for details or if it's worth your time, but generally speaking, pickups aren't in that category. They're like food. You can talk about it until you're blue in the face, but ultimately it's up to the individual to decide whether a particular dish is good or not.
