GFS Paulownia Body

I was ordering some pickups from gfs, when a strat body caught my eye. It was made out of paulownia wood, (also know as Empress) and was finished in a racing green. Since nobody else has posted about any successes or failures with gfs bodies, I decide to get it and post how it goes.

Good luck with that.  I ordered a strat kit from them and eventually canceled my order.  They do not actually have the items they list in stock apparently.  I waited 4 weeks with no correspondence from them whatsoever when the website made it sound like it would be sent out within days.  I finally emailed them and they didn't even have any in stock and did not have a date for me of when they would be in stock.  Hopefully it shows up for you.
The pickups I ordered I did not have a similar problem with.

I bought one of those bodies some years back, and was surprised at how good it was until I started trying to build it up into a guitar. The neck pockets and vibrato routing are off-spec. If you buy one of their necks or their bridges, you'll be ok. But, stuff from manufacturers who actually follow design spec? No. You can make it work if you can tolerate a sloppy neck pocket and have a router to fix up the bridge routing, but don't expect out-of-the-box compliance if you've already got parts lined up.

Didn't Trevor build a Strat of GFS parts, then proceed to relic it (i.e., drag it behind his car or somesuch tomfoolery)? IIRC, it took some finagling, but he managed to make it work.

My Baritone Tele is a GFS Paulownia Tele Body.

You've seen it, there's clips listed in the studio section.

In tone, similar to Basswood.

My parts worked flawlessly.

I have the GFS Neovin T7 neck pickup in mine and it's absolutely wonderful.

Tv jones esque pickups for rock tone, and strat pickup for clean tones all pickups to be gfs ones.

I've got GFS '64 Greybottoms in my Strat and I really like 'em. Just in case you're undecided. :icon_biggrin:

Yep.  Well - not quite. 

It was an Agile strat body.  And nothing was in spec  .  I had to modify the neck pocket and the bridge rout to make it all go together.  It was a PITA and I don't think I'll do it again.

Do you know if dangerousR6 could engrave mirror pickguard?

I had the parts shipped to relatives in the states so i didnt have to pay the extra tax, so i wont be able to get them till christmas time when i visit them.
