I'll be brief here.

People need to quit being such damn crybabies. It's a forum with people from all over the world. There's a good chance something might be said that you do not like. So what? What gives anyone the right to tell someone what they can or can't say or should say or whatever.
- Telling people they are cybabies is not a good way of spreading goodwill.
- This is not your house, nor is it mine: it's Eric's and Gregg's, and they decide what can be said or not. It's their
right to do so, as you put it.
I have criticized many times how this board treats newbies. I don't like it.
I agree, it gets a bit much sometimes. On the other hand, in many cases newbies are welcomed with open arms.
EDIT: Well that came off as needlessly confrontational, but I'll let it stand. Generally I think we should just hold back on the locker room jargon and the air will be easier to breathe here. And not be so damn touchy about our rights, because rights without responsobilities are worthless.
Not to throw a turd in your hot-tub, but you're contradicting exactly what you said in the first place. You're talking about the lack of spreading good will, then you're saying "not to be so damn touchy."
As for "newbs" being treated poorly, I didn't find myself treated poorly when I first came upon this forum. If I recall, in my first post, I introduced myself, posted a pic of my guitar, and answered questions people were asking about it. The only time I can recall people getting a little goofy was over a few comments I made about the "Guitar of the Month" contest, and mentioned there were a few things that were unclear about the rules. For some reason, that seemed like a prime opportunity for the immaturity or bad attitudes to rear their ugly heads. :icon_scratch: Once I'd asked questions about that contest, maybe TWO or THREE people came forward to explain, while the others cast stones and pissed venom.
The way I look at it is this; Warmoths are not cheap guitars. Some of our treasured axes cost well into the $2000 range, and some, probably even more. I guess I'm a little bit lost as to how the same people who can afford these guitars, who I'd assume hold down successful, professional jobs (or trust funds...), could act so trivial and immature at times. These aren't $129 Squier Bullets we're owning here. Given that ASSUMPTION, one would expect a higher level of overall intelligence to be presented.
As recently as a month and a half ago, I was banned from a Jackson forum for telling a moderator to cool his jets after he totally thrashed a new member, and I was not alone in taking up for this new member. The others were banned as well, for taking a stance with the new member. The moderator decided he was just gonna go off, calling the newb a troll, idiot, and all sorts of remarks just because he posted in the wrong section of a forum. :icon_scratch: One thing's for sure, I'm very happy to NOT be associated with that forum any longer, because any forum owner who allows his staff to treat members like that, I don't want anything to do with. That's not even including the number of members who behave the same way. Again, we're talking about people who own guitars which cost $1000s, and some of these people own over 30 of them. I would also expect to see a higher level of professionalism/intelligence out of people who own that type of cash.
I think most of the people here are a good bunch, and the ones who aren't part of that group, they're not even important enough that I remember their screen names. They are simply just...insignificant.
If there needs to be more moderation on the forum, or the staff here is feeling overwhelmed, my suggestion is to seek out some of the more positive members here and offer opportunities to be moderators.
I'm just going to close out this post by saying this; if this forum turns into a toilet like that Jackson forum is, I'll be the first member here requesting my account to be removed, because I'm not going to sit around, wasting my time, dodging stupid internet forum wars. I come here to relax and enjoy myself. If I want to go dodge fights, I'll go down the street on a Friday night to the "Dirty Dawg Saloon."
