<Getting the bull horn out>

All,

We're seeing an increase in issues of board conduct and civility.  We've lost two long time forum members.  One was banned and the other deleted his account.  I am also seeing an increase in sniping on threads and hostility towards other board members (old and new).  This is a loss for everyone and ultimately impacts the board as a whole.

This is unacceptable.  It is inconsistent with the guidelines of this forum and the general decorum of this forum.  Time for everyone to do an attitude self-check.  Or as Zig Ziglar would say, "Time for a checkup from the neck up."  Seriously.

My preference is to let the board members self-manage and I try to stay away from heavy handed admin tactics.  This is an established forum with established rules and norms.  It is not a private country club or a free for all.  In general, members are very helpful and we've done a decent job keeping it that way.  We need to get back to that.

Think of the forum as a great big house party.  Gregg and I are the hosts.  We know not everyone will get along all the time and that's expected.  Behave as you would at a party and face to face.  Agree to disagree and give each other space.  Otherwise, you will no longer be welcome and will be shown the door.

Again, time for an attitude self-check and if you're sure *YOU* don't need to check your attitude, best to check it twice.

Just a curiosity: Do we get warnings? Because part of me when I read this was like "Glad to hear it." And then part of me was like "Was I ever out of line?"
I would just hope that anyone who may be guilty of such infractions would get a heads up before getting the boot.

Either I missed the thread/posts in question, or I'm so far out of sync with everything good in the world that I thought it was ok.  :(

Sorry for saying it Wyliee but there's too many jerks here to let the board self manage.
Second, I dont like that you deleted my whole pedal thread, why am I being punished
for the actions of some jerks. Instead you should have deleted their offensive posts.

For all concerned, I'd like to point out that my posts in the pedal thread were not intended to be offensive or rude to anyone in any way. They were just general horseplay. :blob7:
I did not see any problems with that thread, personally. It appeared to be just another of the many threads here that wander off topic. In any case, I apologize if my behavior on this board, in that thread, or others, has been out of line.

In general, yes.  More than a few people have had second chances.  There have been a few cases that merited an immediate banning (ie. threats of violence, etc...) though.

Tobias, I would encourage you to stick around for a while.  There are a lot of good people on the forum despite how your thread turned out.  After far as removing the thread, wholesale removal of a thread is often the best response when things get out of control.  Disappearing posts often generate even more traffic further pulling the thread off topic and can essentially bury the relevant information.  If you really want the information back, the complete thread will be returned and locked with a note explaining why it was locked.

I'm not a long time member, but I do have something to add. As I am sure everyone has noticed... this is a public forum. Sarcasm doesn't show up too well through text, etc. I don't intend to come across as preachy or anything like that, and I have no problems with any of you. However, sometimes even the lightest touch of horseplay can offend people. We're all different, all of us come from different walks of life, some harder than others.

I admit I'm a little surprised by this post. People have only been super nice and helpful to me in my short time here. I must have missed the posts.

I might say that there are two reasons that I'm not appearing here much latety:

1st - I'm having a real hard time at work, my boses are openly show dislike forward me and my carrer is falling down there. Mind that is the biggest company in BR, one of 10 biggest companies in the world...

2nd - too much argue here, 2 or 3 guys that think are the end of the right and wise with bad behavior that is really boring me...

So, I have no knowledge about this discution that took 2 forum mates from here, I'd like to know who they are, please....

I think Tipperman's got the right idea. I'm no stranger to past comments being taken way to seriously, I have posted topics before that I removed myself simply because they were completely out of touch with my own character. I have also on occasion been offended by certain people's posts but I think there are a good few people on this forum that I never ever see post anything hateful. scornful or disrespectful. Those who have been around for a bit will probably know who I mean. I think I might follow their example.

Peace.

If you're gonna make a funny, use emoticons, especially for sarcasm. This one seems to work good  :icon_jokercolor:

Honestly, just use common sense. If you're not sure, just ask flat-out if its sarcasm.

Fernando very best to you. I hope it works out. You are a gem my friend.
I've been on this forum for about 2years. Great place. Very civil. I go onto one forum and ask a question and get eviscerated. I hope it doesn't happen here. I don't go there any more.

I find the best way to keep from getting my panties in a bunch is to not wear any. I do however happen to have a pair of big boy pants that fit just right.

Either I must be overlooking the drama, or disrespectful behavior, or something, because I don't see much of it.  :dontknow:

Whatever the case, we're all separate entities, and disagreements are to be expected.  We all have our own opinions, and we feel strongly about our opinions as individuals.  I don't so much think the problem is the difference in opinion, but the way those opinions are conveyed back and forth.  It's all in the delivery, folks.

For the most part, I find this forum to be a pleasant one to visit.  I think it sucks that one person was banned and the other left, but there's not much I can say or do about it.  I'm sure in the past I've been a bit snippy towards people, and they've been snippy towards me, but it hasn't been to the point that I've lost any sleep over it or felt ganged up against or poorly treated.

I think we have a good crowd here, and I will continue to visit when I get a chance.

You think that kind of sexist machismo is funny or appropriate?

You're joking right? I mean there is absolutely no way in hell you could be serious right now. If you are then you are only reinforcing my point. People need to quit being such damn crybabies. It's a forum with people from all over the world. There's a good chance something might be said that you do not like. So what? What gives anyone the right to  tell someone what they can or can't say or should say or whatever. Take it with a grain of salt. Write it off as that person's problem and don't make it your own. There are way more important things in life than worrying about someone on the internet. Same thing works for the other half of the equation. Some people are just overly sensitive and it may be a good idea to just feel them out before treating them in a familiar way. I have criticized many times how this board treats newbies. I don't like it. that said I'm not going to get my unisex undergarmet in a bunch, I will just put on my nondescript dual gender slacks and go on about my day.

I don't think it's funny...
