Geez PRS

I've owned many PRS, but currently own none. I probably will never own another. They look great, they play great, but they just don't sound the way I want a guitar to sound. They are too mid-forward and just lack the character that I like. Paul also comes off to me as a little prickly at times, so it's interesting that I find myself in the position of defending him in this thread. Hopefully we can at least agree that what the guy has done over the last 40 years is undeniably noteworthy.

The other thing I know, as a guy who has played hundreds of gigs over the last couple decades, is that videos of a live performance are often less then flattering. There are videos of my shows all over the interwebs, and so many of them are super cringy. I would hate to be judged by them.

Of course, this PRS show was professionally shot with a state-of-the-art mutli-camera setup, while most of the videos from my shows are cell phones grabs by drunk fans, so there's that, I guess. LOL.

What I have learned is that 1st you learned to read music, worked on the song, made it to the stage, overcome the stage fright, etc. It's easy to say I could of done it better on day 1, but in order to be posterized by Michael Jordan, you 1st have to make it to the stage. I'm sure Paul has paid dues. My shortfall is not to make it to stage and didn't learn the fundamentals of reading melody.

I agree with this, and also now understand why you had to smash that poor Les Paul for your album cover ;)

Dollar for dollar if I wanted an ultra flamey, Gibson-esque, boutique American guitar, I’d look for a used Hamer.

He wasn't that bad, he doesn't make his living gigging. It's like me doing a performance at a garden party, like I did last weekend, it was OK, well received, but not on the level of dylan, even though I sang three of his songs. People enjoyed it ... if Paul wants to put on a party for 3500 people, of music professionals, with a good spread, I'll cheer him on.

And I'm the same as Teleme!, I never learned the fundamentals of reading melody, so I'm just a flogger and a singer.

I just think a trusted friend/cohort should have been honest and encouraged him to play something more within his grasp. "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones comes to mind.
