Gecko 6, scale, P pickup, and headstock veneer

I want a 6 string with 34" scale and dual P pickups.

I already have one (a Peavey TL-Six), but I would prefer an oil-finished neck and more modern electronics.

Kiesel is now making the Roy Vogt Signature Vanquish, which is just what I want, except that I really don't like the shape of the body.

I have had several 35" scale basses, including a Peavey Cirrus 6 which I still have but am selling. 35" is okay for some music, but really doesn't work for me for some specific things (e.g. reading Big Band charts). OTOH, 34" scale works just fine for a B string, if the bass is good quality (e.g. my EBMM Sterling 5, my G&L L-2500, and my Sadowsky Metro J 5 - all 34" scale and all with good B strings). A 5-piece laminated neck with dual truss rods should be PLENTY stiff enough to give a good B string.

If the Gecko 6 had a 34" scale option, I could buy an unrouted body and go from there. But, ideally, Warmoth would offer:

  • Gecko 6 with 34"scale
  • P pickup routs for neck and bridge locations
  • Option for 5 control knobs (personally, I would use Volume w/push/pull for active/passive, Blend, stacked Treble/Bass, stacked Mid/Mid sweep, and passive Tone
  • Option to order neck with a headstock veneer that matches the body ordered

If you're not committed to a bolt-neck job, there are other Carvin/Kiesel six-string body styles that they might be able to rout for you in the configuration you're contemplating.  Their Icon comes to mind - that's a six-string with a 34" scale length, and it's not as bloaty- looking as the Vanquish model in the horns.

As far as I know, there is no standardized size/shape for six string split coil "P" pickups. They are not as universal as four string pickups, and that makes it problematic to offer routing.
