Gecko 5 (medium) flamed Korina body with custom pickup locations

Easily one of the best pieces of Korina I've ever seen. This is also making me consider getting a Purpleheart neck in the future.

There is a nice Purpleheart neck in the Deluxe 5 section of the Showcase.  :headbang:

I know this might be considered OT, but looking at this body I wonder if Warmoth is able to do any pickup routes if you specify what exactly are you looking for? Or was this just one-time offer?

Sweet!!  That alone makes me want to try to get you for my band.  :toothy12:
Seriously, I'd love to hear how that sounds.  Congratulations, it's a gecko I'd even buy insurance from.

In my experience, Warmoth is usually willing to vary the position of all the standard pickup routes that they usually offer.  There is a $45 charge for each custom pickup position.  You can ask Eric Wylie if you want more details, or if you're ready to place a custom order.  He has made this process incredibly easy!

I did ask Warmoth about a custom route for an odd pickup (an oval-shaped Delano Xtender) and after some consideration they declined to do this for me.  I don't know if they are willing to route for other more rectangular shapes such as "ramps", since I haven't asked.

Then again, I have found that most of the odd-shaped pickups that I might want to install in my basses are larger than a standard Jazz bridge pickup in every dimension.  Now that I have acquired a nice router and learned some woodworking skills, I am able to resize a pickup route by myself.

So my approach now is to order a Gecko body with one Jazz bridge pickup in a custom location, experiment with several of the Jazz bridge-shaped pickups that I already have, and then expand the pickup route  to fit a larger pickup.

I'll post some pictures when I actually get around to completing the last step of this plan.  Don't worry, it won't be done on this particular Gecko body.  :)
