For this one, I see Donkey Kong at the top, and the turtle King Koopa at the index hole.  :turtle:
I see a smiling spider.... :icon_scratch:

For some reason I've never been a huge Black Korina fan. I even own one haha but this body is awesome. It's like Black Korina and Ash had a lovechild!

Black Korina can be kinda heavy if it's not chambered, but if you find the right grain pattern you can do some nice stuff with it, and just tolerate the weight like LP players do. I did this VIP in a dark transparent red, and was pleased with the result...

That's some great grain there! I don't own a korina guitar yet, but I'd very much like too; maybe for my next build. It just varies so much that it's hard to order a korina body sight unseen... This one is very tasty...

Standard thin profile 10"-16" progressive radius. Modern construction Ebony over Bloodwood, "gold" EVO frets, (no markers). Fine neck, played/felt great. Heavy little rascal though, at 2lbs even.

So have I just never looked this carefully, or did Warmoth just stumble upon the most amazing stock of flamed maple the world has ever seen? There’s incredible roasted flame maple necks all over the showcase recently!

There's also a lot of "bonus" figuring to be had in their stock that doesn't qualify as flamed or quilted, but still looks great!

Doc, I've eyeballed this guy over and over again, but decided it was too similar to my flame maple. Did a custom instead, blue ice top with clear swamp ash back.

I just discovered quarter sawn white oak. I know "tonewood" folks turn up their nose. But look at this:

Quartersawn white oak is gorgeous.  And when you fume it with ammonia it gives you that rich, dark Mission-style look.  And on a solid electric guitar body, the tonewood cork-sniffers are huffing their own farts, in my opinion.

I have a 100+ year old parlor guitar made from quartersawn oak.

So true, oak, besides being beautiful, is a really hard wood. First guitar I built from scratch was in an old cabinet makers shop when I lived in Oregon. He had some scrap pieces of oak and mahogany he let me have to build the guitar. Wish I still had it...
