GAS Alert!!!!

Oh, my! That is a fine piece!  And none of those pesky markers, either. Interesting that it has a square-heeled fretboard, but is still a 25.5" scale part. Usually that indicates a 24.75" scale. Too bad about the Floyd nut prep. I'm guessing that one is gonna end up in the bent can rack "Screamin Deals" bin after a few months of collecting dust.
Normally I'd be inclined for the Floyd cut, but for guitar I'm looking for a neck for, this time i don't need one... :sad1:

Not sure about it being chambered. I understand the sound difference is probably mostly marginal, but I've never tried one and don't know if I want to risk it.

It's no risk. Chambering just makes the thing lighter. I've had a lotta examples through my shop, and sometimes I hear something I might attribute to the chambering, but it's so subtle it's not worth talking about, and it's only acoustically. Electrically, I don't think it makes a lick of difference.

But, honestly, it's impossible to say. The body has little influence for an electric in the first place, and there's no way to hear a body solid and then the same one chambered to compare them. Then, if you have two otherwise identical bodies/necks/electricals but one of the bodies is chambered, differences in wood and setup may be what you're hearing rather than the chambering.

In a nutshell, what I'm saying is don't pass up such a beautiful body based on sound character concerns.

Firstly:
What Cagey said.

Secondly:
There's a real big risk you'd love chambering so much that you need to order all your future bodies that way. Just sayin' ...  :icon_thumright:

Yeah the pickup was clipping the top part of the cavity on my mockups, but they're not very accurate anyways. I still think it looks great with a pickguard though! Not sure about it being chambered. This is a really terrific piece. I really like the trans yellow/vintage tint/blonde Teles with black pickguards. The top on this one is particularly beautiful.

I'm not real big on maple fret boards, but it really looks outstanding with that body! And, as stated above, you'll love the chambered body, go for it!

Wow, that makes me wonder what the cheapest full Warmoth build is?

Been thinking about maybe having a go at building a guitar in a year or so. Saw this Queensland Camphor Laurel blank for $160 AUD. Has some lovely figuring to it. I was thinking having it for a body like this with a clear acrylic pickguard. Sort of like a PRS S2 crossed with a Strat.

All necks with the tiltback construction (except the tiltback strat) have a square fretboard end no matter the scale length :hello2: :toothy10:

It is an attractive piece. I've had a few come through here, and they feel/play/sound great. I just can't get past the deep, open grain of that wood. Think of what your fingernails would look like and what would be under them after a couple weeks of not washing your hands, and that's what that neck is gonna be loaded with. Kukka. Yucky, nasty stuff. Disneyland for bacteria. And no way to clean it.

Right, that's why I don't own one, Cagey.  That, and I just can't put wenge above pau ferro for beauty.  For that matter, roasted maple is above wenge in my book, too.  But the grain pattern in that particular wenge neck is spectacular.

I have a couple of them, and their not as yuky and nasty as one would think. A little wipe down once in a while, all is good...But at first glance it does look like a picnic table top left out in the weather for years...Stable as granite and slick as a button with a little polishing... :laughing7:

So speaking of wenge, this hot number went up today.  If you don't want to go with a whole neck made of the stuff, pack this baby full of stainless frets and at least enjoy the visual of the fingerboard.
