FT/FS: Wenge neck

As it turns out the intermittent hives and one-time hospitalization are the direct result of my wenge Warmoth neck. Hooray! Apparently I'm one of the lucky ones.  :dontknow: Most people do not have any kind of issue with wenge. It's kind of like peanuts in that regard. Some people live on them, others die if their roommate eats cookies made in the wrong place... so it's highly unlikely anyone else here would have the same issue.

Anyway, I'm too damn broke to buy a replacement so I'm hoping to do a straight trade for something that won't try to kill me.

Specs are Warmoth headstock, 24.75" scale. 1-5/8" Graphtech nut. Warmoth shape. Biggest scariest frets available. Strat heel type. Will include tuners. It was originally over $300 so looking for something comparable in terms of value. I will absolutely consider trades for less expensive necks along with cash or other items. I don't really care what replaces it as long as it's something that won't try to kill me. Hell, I had my maple Strat neck on here for a while and that was actually quite cool looking.

This REALLY sucks as wenge is my favorite wood. It just looks and feels perfect. Oh well, I guess I'll have to resign myself to things like birdseye maple and padouk... really difficult, right?  :laughing3:

Oh, just to mention, this would include baritone conversions as well. Like I said, I'm not picky and I kind of want to try something a bit odd with this particular guitar anyway.

*edited to include tuner and nut info*

How would you feel about a Warmoth Pro with the same headstock, maple with rosewood fretboard and pearloid block inlays?  I painted the headstock face black, and it has the gold-plated Warmoth metal "decal".  Headstock is lacquered, and the back of the neck has a very light tru-oil coat.  Frets are stainless 6115's, not leveled or dressed yet.  Scale length 25.5"

Tuners are black non-locking Gotohs, I think, but I'll check when I get home tonight.  Nut is a black graphtech job.

Neck is brand new except for having been installed; never completed the guitar due to wiring frustration and a couple of interstate moves and parenting a toddler.

I don't have a photo of it finished, but It's this one here.

Good luck on your quest - I'm sure someone here will have something suitable. That neck of Bagman's looks awfully nice. It's particularly attractive because it has a finish, which I think you're going to need. If you react that severely to Wenge, which is relatively benign on the toxicity scale, I'm guessing you're going to have trouble with most exotic wood species (which leaves Padouk out).

That's the weird bit. I've played guitars with padouk, cocobolo, pao ferro, and a number of other exotics without effect. That's why for the longest time I didn't even consider it an option. Hell, I don't react to cocobolo why would I react to wenge? Well, because it doesn't work like that, duh.  :laughing3: Kind of obvious in hindsight.

I knew a guy years ago who had a similar problem, but rather than the wood it was the nickel in the frets and on the hardware that was causing a reaction. Seemed so bizarre nobody ever thought about it.
