Frets after finish

Question from newbie...
When finishing a maple fingerboard, how to remove the excess from frets?
*Steel wool* grid 0000?
Very fine sandpaper (grid...)?
Or using chemicals? (in Italy we have SIDOLI by Henkel, or DURAGLIT etc.)

Or before finish you applied adhesive on the frets and then remove it?  (but I don't think is a good way...)

Thank you

Put a couple of layers of masking tape betweens the fret to protect the fret board, then hit the frets with 0000 steel wool. Comes of really quickly if you use good steady pressure on the fret wire.  :occasion14:
