What does "Bump" mean? The context seems to be - Nobody has responded to my thread so I want to bring the topic back up to the forefront for another chance at a response? Forgive my stupidity, just wondering.
Cheers

Yeah, bumping it back up to the top of the page so that it doesn't get lost from people's attention.  It can be bad form, but I don't think I've ever seen it be such on these boards.

mostly happens if the starter of the thread wants a response but isn't getting one... or in the gear for sale forum, when the item isn't getting a bite

Thanks Mark and GoDrex. My impression was bad form as well. There is a guy on another guitar forum who bumped about 5 times in a couple of hours. Maybe OCD or just impatience.

Or just idioty...

If you BUMP the thread some days after you post, all right... Posting many times a day is just idiot people that doesn't care....

I don't think a "bump" is bad form.  Often times threads get hijacked (guilty) and the issue never gets resolved or answered and time passes.  In this case a bump is in order.  The alternative is for the OP to make an identical new thread and hope for a response.  In that case, a bump is much more preferred than a new, redundant thread.
