Floyd Rose Non-Fine Tuner Recessed rout

More of a non-fine tuner Floyd user from back in the day.

But yes, Guthrie has the right idea here. He certainly deserves credit for getting them back on the market. Like he says the locking nut can get in the way...

I've definitely seen more chatter about the non-locking Floyd since Guthrie's rise to prominence, but probably not enough for Warmoth to seriously consider it as an option. But....you never know. Some of the routs we already offer are even more arcane than that. Getting an "unlikely" feature like this to happen in a business is sort of like a rock band "making it". You have to get the idea in front of the right person, at the right time...get them to believe in it, champion it, and babysit it all the way to fruition.

Will that happen with the Non-Locking Floyd rout?

Difficult to say. Always in motion is the future...

Perhaps at some point, the future will happen.

I am priming it in case I need to send one of these in to make it so :icon_thumright:

Of course I am happy for the stars to align as they may...

Yes. I brought it up in our Tuesday meeting. The first step for us would be to order one of the Floyd Rose non-fine-tuner bridges, so we can begin testing it. I know you guys have gone to the trouble to post the rout template here, but just going by the template wouldn't be sufficient for us to release the option as an offering to our customers. We have to actually have the piece and test the rout/installation on our bodies. As you can imagine, routing a bunch of bodies with this new rout, and installing the part on each one to ensure compatibility is a big undertaking/expense.

The question then becomes, do we think we will sell enough to make it worth it? The overall feeling at this time is probably not. That said, every now and then somebody here will decide to champion something through the process, even if it isn't necessarily destined to be a big seller <cough>pine bodies</cough>.

I am not promising to be that champion for this, but I promise I will ask again whether the part has been ordered, and gauge the general feeling again, at our next meeting. If the answer then is "no", it probably isn't going to happen.

Even if the part was ordered today, it will still probably be quite a while before all the testing is done and this makes it to the website as a real offering.

Here is the latest from another thread... Who is up for it?

Would be a nice addition to the existing range!

What's the status???

No new news, apart from in another thread it was mentioned that it would be discussed at a W HQ meeting. No idea what the outcome was.

I have plead your case. I have stood before the Warmoth high council, and invoked the names of Guthrie Govan and Brad Willis. I stand before you today to deliver the result.
Warmoth has decided to place the power in the hands of the people....AKA, crowdsourcing.

If you can get five people to commit to buying a body with this rout - by paying for it in advance - we will program the rout and offer it as an off-menu option. One person would also have to be willing to lend us their bridge while we do the programming. We would return it with the body, of course.

The cost would be the price of whatever body you choose, plus an extra $45 for the custom bridge rout.

Just in case some tremolo aficionado stumbles across this thread in the future see this thread to find out what happened.
