Long time lurker, first time poster.
I have been assembling a dream Tele from used parts over the course of a year. slowly but surely I have done it.
I got a killer deal on a warmoth Tele HST body. I didn't realize that the included Hardtail Vintage Strat bridge was the 57mm spaced one. I currently have a Baritone neck on it with a 1 11/16" nut width and the strings feel very crammed and too close to the fretboard edge for my liking. I want to order a standard scale Warmoth neck and now wonder what nut width to get. I know 1 11/16" is much more popular, and there are so killer used deals but I am concerned for the spacing.
Few options:
1. Get a wider nut width (1.75") and the problem will be lessened or worsened?
2. Stay with 1 11/16" and going from 68/14 string set to 46/10 will help out greatly.
3. Swap out the Vintage wide 57mm for the SFMH1G narrow spaced bridge ($50) but have to widen the string holes. Would I need to remove the ferrules to do this?
Kind of wondering what to do.... thoughts?
