I have not  played many guitars with a bolt neck.I played some strats but where the body bolts to the neck is so thick.I'm thinking of building a v or a v2 .Can someone please tell me does warmoth  bolt on make it difficult to reach the upper fret board .I am blessed with small hands damn lol........Thank you

it depends on who you ask? Some people say that it makes no difference at all. I'm on the side that says it makes all the difference in the world.

rockskate thanks .........still undecided i have played starts and its so different from my neckthrus it seems the neck to body is very thick,,,,,,.Maybe ill give it a go..thanks again

I'm also blessed with short fingers and although I'm not finished with my build yet, I could tell a huge difference with the contoured heel.  As long as you went with the standard 22 frets you would probably be ok.  If you went with 24 you might struggle trying to reach them on the bass side.

I guess to save face, I sould say I have BIG feet huh? :headbang1:

jlegnor thanks that helps ......I wounder if you can get a real 24 fret neck not extended if that would help..Just a thought

sorry mate, the only "real" 24 fret necks are the baritone conversion necks for guitar and necks for their Gecko basses. This does not include the G4 or G5 basses...

I wouldn't say that 24 fret extentions have fake frets  :laughing7:

With a countoured heel, this might be just what you're after: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=222.0

guys i talk to warmoth today you can get a 24 3/4 neck with 24 frets without the extension. That helps alot ,,,,Since i was thinking of a v2 he said pick a heavier body wood to compensate for the weight difference,It will also cost 50 bucks to make the body a 24 3/4 scale.,,,,,,

Are you sure?
That is odd... that means longer neck, relocation of the bridge, relocation of the pickups...

super turbo and max heres is my email too warmoth and its reply.........

mine
I’m planning an v2 guitar build I have 2 questions. First do you offer a true 24 fret neck made (24 ¾ scale). not with the extension ..

warmoths reply

Sure! The neck is available at the standard price, it’s just not offered on the website.
To convert the V2 to a 24.75” scale, add $50.

You will end up with a really nice 24 fret ax.
Plan on using a body and hardware that weigh as much as possible to help reduce the neck-heaviness of the design.

Oh, wait, didn't Warmoth used to do some other 24.75" guitars? With the relocated bridges. I remember a LPS like that.

That's pretty cool! I hope to see more builds like this now that the secret is sorta out  :blob7: :blob7: :blob7:
