I just got a maple neck with maple fretboard from Warmoth. I didn't have the extra $75 to spend on the satin finish at the time of ordering and I just couldn't wait. I figured it would be a fun adventure doing it myself anyway. But now I wish I had waited, as I have no idea what I'm doing. At first I thought I might just tung oil the whole thing and be done with it, but now I don't know. I love the feel of the satin finish on the last neck I got from Warmoth, so I'd like to keep it as close to that as possible. So basically I have raw maple that has already been fretted. My only concern is protecting the maple over time. I don't care if the color slightly changes due to stains or whatever. And I'm not really too concerned about the warranty either because this isn't my main axe, and will probably never leave my studio. So what's the easiest approach to finishing a maple neck (including the fingerboard), considering I don't want the sticky feel of a gloss finish?

1.) Go to your local Ace/True Value Hardware/WalMart/Whatever
2.) Buy a spray can of Deft Satin Lacquer
3.) Spray a light coat each day until can is empty
